Intervention sectors

At present, all our efforts are focused on the following fields:

  • Attending to the basic needs of communities, particularly in areas such as literacy, basic education and professional training.

In this area, we carry out interventions that involve investment in human beings and which aim at developing their skills through literacy, training and improving professional, technical, institutional and management skills.
We pay special attention to projects which link literacy and rights training with technical education, which is always linked to the productive sectors.
In the past years we have accumulated considerable experience in conducting training projects and improving professional skills with different particularly disadvantaged groups: women from deprived neighbourhoods, rural communities, young people in difficulty and people with disabilities.

  • Increase the economic capacity of women and young people through their professional training and occupational integration.

In this area, we carry out interventions aimed at increasing the incomes of vulnerable sectors of the population by supporting micro businesses and cooperatives. This is achieved through technical support to production and marketing, the provision of seed capital for micro business development and revolving funds specifically targeted at areas which have difficulty accessing capital.
We support the productive integration of the most disadvantaged sectors of society through initiatives that generate regular income and, at the same time, strengthen the economic fabric and the income of the country, creating a dynamic of development.
To date, we have implemented productive projects with different groups that are particularly disadvantaged: women and young people both in urban and rural areas.

  • Institutional strengthening, paying particular attention to the training of people providing services to local organizations with whom we work.

We carry out interventions that reinforce the action of local associations through technical assistance and training, providing them with the right tools to play a leading role in development.
Institutional strengthening projects have been implemented, including the training of personnel working in local NGOs in international cooperation, and conducting workshops for the formulation, monitoring and evaluation of projects.

  • Supporting rural development initiatives and food security of small farmers.

This implementation area aims to contribute towards the fight against extreme poverty and hunger in rural areas of countries where we intervene. It focuses on improving rural development and food security of households with special attention to women, through strengthening their farming activities, the implementation of mechanisms to protect their goods in the seasons in which they are most affected by shortage, and through training in and the creation of alternative income-generating activities.
